CITY OF MANCHESTER STADIUM

The City of Manchester Stadium will play host to the final of the UEFA Cup in 2008 between FC Zenit St Petersburg and Rangers FC. The final of the world’s largest club football competition is the conclusion to a historical and thrilling tournament, which involves 144 football clubs across Europe. Since the competition was established in 1971, previous winners have included Real Madrid, Porto, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool who have won it a joint record breaking 3 times along with Internazionale Milano and Juventus. The climax to the tournament in Manchester will be televised live in over 200 countries worldwide.

From 6-13 May, you can see the UEFA Cup trophy on display in the Sculpture Hall in Manchester Town Hall. You can also see a special presentation of a selection of the best entries from the Manchester Evening News ‘What Football Means to You’ competition.

Opening times: Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm (closed Bank Holiday Monday).

Look out for fast and furious football action as children from Manchester’s schools compete in the grand final of the UEFA Cup Final 2008 Manchester 3v3s. The best squads from the secondary school girls’ cheerleading competition will perform alongside the grand final, so there will be plenty of skills and flair on show.

9.30am – 11am: Boys Under 16 Final
11am: Presentation to winners of Boys Under 16 Final
11.15am: Cheerleading Display
11.30am – 12 noon: Disability Final
12 noon: Presentation to winners of Disability Final
12.15pm: Cheerleading Display
1pm-3.30pm: Primary School Girls and Boys Finals
3.30pm: Presentation to winners of Primary School Girls and Boys Final
